We met on a beautiful spring day in May... a young colt born of the beautiful mare called Dragonfly that always seemed to have an ethereal light glowing around her, his sire an elegant black stallion called Evening Star, his older sister a stunning grey pinto with blue eyes called Buyana.
This young colt just as gorgeous and unique as his wild horse family band, that roamed the hills of their wild Red Desert of Wyoming, in a place called Arapaho Creek.

Mother & son in Arapaho Creek of the Red Desert WY
As the days passed and gentle spring breezes gave way to dry summer heat, he grew strong running across the desert hills of sage, playing with the other foals in his family band, curiously exploring all that he found in this wild land, and learning the things a young horse needs to know from his elders.
It was the kind of summer one hopes for in the desert.... healthy grasses and other forage plentiful for wild horses and wild things, babies running and playing with each other, water holes filled with water to splash, stallions sparring and grandstanding for all to see, the mares lazily watching their youngsters snooze under the mid-day sun.
But the lovely sunny summer days were soon followed by crisp fall days, in which helicopter blades would soon beat through the air as the metal beast cut across the sky..... 2020 was the year the helicopters would come to the desert, wild desert horses were taken away, and this family was one of many that lost their wild freedom.
After they were sent to BLM holding corrals, most young foals were sent to Rock Springs for multiple adoption possibilities, but this young one was sent to Canyon City, and it would be almost a year after he and his family were taken away that this wild beauty was rescued from the prison facility by Meg Frederick from Return to Freedom, during one of the very few adoption events allowed at that facility in 2021.
He is now called Galaxy by the folks at Return to Freedom and is living in California, he has learned how to live with humans, he has learned the things that will help him be safe and happy in the company of humans, and he is waiting for his person to begin living his life with... he is ready for the next part of the journey in his life.
If you find that something in your heart touched by him, and you are in a place in life where you are looking for a loving partnership, and can provide a caring home to a mustang, below are the links to start that process.

I hope someone reading this feels the spark that will lead to a partnership, and if it is not you, then I hope you share this post until it finds the person that is meant to be with this young horse, he that still holds in him the magic that can only be found in those touched by the wild winds of the Red Desert of Wyoming.
